What Is Ferroseed’s Hidden Ability?
Ferroseed’s Hidden Ability is still called Iron Barbs. Compare its ability slots with Ferrothorn’s and follow a Poke Wordle example that separates matching tags from a correct guess.
The name is Iron Barbs, even in the Hidden Ability slot
From Generation VI onward, Ferroseed’s regular Ability and Hidden Ability are both called Iron Barbs. The difference becomes visible after evolution: the regular slot leads to Iron Barbs on Ferrothorn, while the hidden slot leads to Anticipation. Seeing “Iron Barbs” on a Ferroseed therefore does not, by itself, tell you which slot it has. Bulbapedia documents this generation boundary and evolution mapping.

What Poke Wordle’s Ability tags show
Poke Wordle lists each entry’s possible Ability names without duplicates. It does not identify an individual’s active Ability or hidden slot.

Both entries are from Generation V. The evolution-method clue describes how the displayed entry was reached: Ferroseed has no previous evolution, while Ferrothorn’s entry records leveling up. It does not describe Ferroseed’s next possible evolution.
A green Iron Barbs tag does not identify the answer
Suppose the answer is Ferrothorn and you guess Ferroseed, in normal mode with Generation V included:
- Grass, Steel, Generation V and Iron Barbs match, so those clues are green.
- The answer’s total is 489 rather than 305. The difference is 184, so the total is gray with an up arrow, beyond the 50-point yellow range.
- Evolution stage 1 does not match stage 2. Several green clues still leave the submitted entry incorrect.
Now reverse the example: the answer is Ferroseed and the guess is Ferrothorn. Iron Barbs is green, but Anticipation is gray. The total points down from 489 toward 305. The two directions show different Ability feedback because each row displays the guess’s tags and checks them against the answer.
Use the colors and arrows guide when reading this feedback. A green tag proves that the answer includes that value; it does not prove the answer has no additional Abilities, or that you found its exact entry.
